About Yibiao
Yibiao Wang (b. 1998 — Beijing, China) is a flutist, producer, and educator based in New York City. Praised for being “remarkably gifted” by the Flutist Quarterly, Yibiao made his Lincoln Center debut performing the Ibert Flute Concerto with the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra at the age of 13. Since then, he has performed on some of the world's most iconic stages, both as a soloist and appearing alongside prominent artists in classical music.
Yibiao is dedicated to inspiring future generations through his teaching and mentorship. He has held multiple teaching and mentoring roles at The Juilliard School, including preparing advanced young musicians for college-level musicianship as a mentor for the Pre-College Orchestras, and teaching a range of musicianship skills to undergraduate students as a teaching assistant for the Department of Music Theory. As a private music teacher, Yibiao utilizes a comprehensive approach, combining his technical expertise with music theory, history, performance psychology to provide musical training for students of all ages and experience level. Currently, Yibiao is a Senior Mentor at Command Education, helping high school students build crucial learning and social-emotional skills and succeed in the college application process.
A classically-trained artist with an independent streak, Yibiao founded his own label, YIBSY Laboratories in January 2021 to establish his freelance career, offering media production, publishing, and consulting services. Yibiao’s flute debut EP, Tango-Études, was released under YIBSY Laboratories in July 2021.
Yibiao holds a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University and attained his Master of Music from the Juilliard School as a recipient of the Kovner Fellowship. Recognized by Juilliard for his artistic merit, leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurial mindset, Yibiao was awarded the coveted Juilliard Career Advancement Fellowship in June 2021.
